Pageant is a small UK Registered Charity,
established in 2002. We help schools and other educational
establishments in The Gambia, and arrange sponsorship to allow
students to continue their studies. We also provide help to improve
the quality of life, particularly in village communities, as this
often has a profound effect on education.

How you can help
Join Pageant For just £10 a year, you can become a member of Pageant. Membership
subscriptions cover all our running costs, as well as funding some
of our projects. This means that 100% of any donation reaches The
Gambia to help the people there. See

Sponsor a child's education Although
primary education is provided free by the state, the family must
still pay for books, food, uniform and travel, and older children
have to pay some tuition fees. Pageant's scheme allows you to
sponsor a child, who might otherwise have to withdraw due to lack of
funds. Students seeking sponsorship are normally recommended to us
by the head teacher. Administration costs are covered by Pageant, so
all of your sponsorship money goes directly to the family, without
any deduction. See

Ethical Gift Scheme Pageant has
an
Ethical Gifts Scheme, which
operates throughout the year. There is a
list of gifts ranging in value
from £6.50 upward. You purchase a 'Gift Token' for your friend or
relative, and schools, children or villagers in The Gambia benefit
from an ethical gift which is sure to be greatly appreciated.
At Christmas we supply the Gift Tokens in a specially designed
Pageant Christmas Card.
Make a Donation to
Pageant by sending us a cheque to the address shown on our
Contact Page or
Donate Online with a credit or
debit card, You can choose to make a donation to be used at our
discretion, or choose a specific Pageant project. UK taxpayers can
take advantage of GiftAid, which allows Pageant to reclaim
25p
for every £1 you donate.
Donate by Text
Message
from your mobile phone using JustTextGiving, a free service provided by Vodafone. All mobile
networks pass on 100% of the amount donated to Pageant. You won't pay to send the text no matter which network you use,
and there are no deductions from your
free text message allowance. Simply text
'PAGE26 £10' to 70070 to donate £10 to Pageant. You can donate £1,
£2, £3, £4, £5 or £10, up to a total of £30 a month. You can add GiftAid by following the instructions in

Shop Online and
Raise Money for Pageant
If you already shop online, here is
a way to raise money for Pageant at the same time as you shop. Easyfundraising
is a shopping directory with over 2000 online retailers on its list.
Each of these makes a donation of a small percentage of the purchase
price to Pageant, but it doesn't cost you an extra penny. Also you
can do online searches through a special Pageant search page,
earning money for Pageant each time you click.

Organise a Fundraising Event If you are planning to organise or take part in a sponsored event or raise

Donate school equipment If you are involved with a UK School, either as a teacher or
parent, please consider donating unwanted equipment or furniture for
us to send to The Gambia. Also surplus office furniture can often be
used by schools with older students. You can see the sort of

which schools require and how we

Send or take smaller items We are often asked what items visitors to The Gambia can take with
them. This list shows
you things which are gratefully received by schools or village
